This policy covers the aurawav Recorder browser extension for Chrome and Firefox (“the extension”), which connects music you play in your browser to your aurawav account.
While you have a supported page open and playing audio, the extension reads on-page media metadata (track title, artist, album, cover art, playback position and duration) so it can record what you're listening to on aurawav and show a live “Now Playing” status to people you follow there.
| Data type | Collected | Sent off-device | Purpose | Shared with third parties |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Email address | Yes | Yes, to the aurawav backend servers | Signing you into your aurawav account | No |
| Authentication token | Yes | Yes, to the aurawav backend servers | Keeping your session signed in | No |
| Listening activity (tracks played) | Yes | Yes, to the aurawav backend servers | Recording your listening history on aurawav | No |
| Page/track metadata (titles, artist, album) | Yes | Yes, to the aurawav backend servers | Identifying the track being recorded | No |
We do not collect health, financial, location, browsing history, or personal communications data. We do not read or transmit the content of pages beyond the media metadata described above.
Collected data is stored in aurawav's own backend servers, associated with your authenticated aurawav account. It is used only to power aurawav's own features (your listening history, “Now Playing” status, and related social features on aurawav).
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising, credit scoring, or lending decisions, or for any purpose unrelated to the extension's core function of recording your listening activity on aurawav.
The extension is pre-authorized to read media metadata only on the specific music platforms it natively supports (Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, Deezer, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Tidal) plus aurawav's own backend servers and iTunes' public metadata API (used only to enrich album art/name). It does not run on any other site by default.
For any other website, the extension only activates if you explicitly click “Enable aurawav on this site” in the popup — this requests browser permission for that single site and starts detecting generic HTML5 audio there. You can revoke this at any time from your browser's extension permissions settings.
